EMDR Therapy for Therapists

You were made to thrive.

If you are a therapist, finding therapy for yourself can be difficult. You are probably connected to many of the good therapists in your area professionally or personally – you might be colleagues, referral sources for each other, neighbors or personal friends.

Even worse, some therapists can feel shame about wanting something more for themselves in their work. Most of us were told in grad school that “We don’t go into mental health to make money” or we believe that burnout is “normal” and self-care is something we cram into our overloaded schedules when we have time.

I call BS on that! #notavailable

I offer you a safe place to do your own work via online EMDR therapy. If you are a resident of Massachusetts or Virginia, you can access the powerful benefits of EMDR and finally put yourself first in your practice.

I KNOW WHY YOU’RE HERE. I SEE YOU…

  • Taking risks  and working hard to create the successful practice you dreamed of having – and wondering why it feels so hard.

  • Wondering  how you can feel so confident when you’re helping your clients set boundaries, but so stuck when it comes to yourself.

  • Knowing  some of your old ‘stuff’ is getting in the way of reaching your potential, but not knowing how to stop it.

  • Listening  to podcasts, following the therapist facebook groups and comparing yourself to those “successful” therapists, and feeling like you’re just spinning your wheels.

  • Telling  yourself everything is “fine”, this is just how things work when you’re in private practice, and that it’s selfish to expect anything more.

Are you ready to

  • Wake up in the morning feeling calm and in control of your day.

  • Show up as yourself in your practice, feeling like things on the outside match who you are on the inside.

  • Work the hours you want to work with the clients you want to work with.

  • Set your rates to be what you want them to be – without guilt, apology or inner conflict.

  • Have a practice that works for you as much as you work for it.

  • Finally clear out those old emotional blocks and see that sparkly, powerful, peaceful, purposeful version of yourself that you have always known was there.

It’s time for a fresh approach. To get something different, you have to do something different.

You always have options.

Customized EMDR Intensive

You’ve waited long enough.

Sometimes the traditional model of weekly therapy sessions is unnecessarily limiting. Fortunately, EMDR therapy is not limited to the traditional format. Intensive EMDR can be as effective as weekly therapy – in a whole lot less time. Intensive EMDR therapy typically involves longer length sessions (2 – 3 hours) over a shorter period of days or weeks. Intensive EMDR therapy might be right for you if:

  • You want to change on a deeper level, and you’re not quite getting to the root of the issue with your current therapist. Maybe you are making good progress in most areas, but there’s this one thing that would be amazing to be able to finally deal with, so you’re curious about how Intensive EMDR therapy can help.

  • You’re busy! You’ve been thinking about going to weekly therapy for a while now, but the idea of having to take up time every week and plod through the issues makes you exhausted just thinking about it.

  • You don’t want to wait to feel better. You’re ready to deal with “it” – whatever “it” is – and you don’t want to spend months in the traditional weekly model before you can move on. You’re so over it already!

Your EMDR Intensive includes:

  • One pre-consultation interview to assess for candidacy, gain insight, and identify obstacles. We will also target unpleasant beliefs, body sensations, emotions, or images from which you are seeking relief.

  • Personalized treatment workbook, which allows you to work on your treatment goals before, during, and after our EMDR Intensive sessions.

  • A customized treatment program with targeted treatment goals. Sessions will be done virtually, typically for 2 to 3 hours each appointment.

  • One post-treatment interview to assess and support your adaption to positive changes from treatment.

Adjunct EMDR Therapy

You can get what you need.

We’ve all – therapists and clients alike – had the experience of feeling stuck or knowing there’s a block that we keep hitting over and over, no matter how hard we both work. It can be discouraging for both the client and the therapist. Sometimes an additional intervention can help shake things loose. Through Adjunct EMDR therapy, I collaborate with your primary therapist to help resolve the stuck point so that your work with them can move forward. Adjunct EMDR therapy does not replace or interrupt the primary therapy. Adjunct EMDR therapy is typically conducted on an Intensive basis or in a short series of weekly sessions in order to yield results as quickly as possible. Adjunct EMDR therapy might be right for you if:

  • You and your primary therapist are in agreement that there is a clearly-defined stuck point and that an added intervention could help to accelerate your progress

  • You and your primary therapist are interested in supplementing your current talk therapy with an innovative intervention

  • Your clinical needs are appropriate for a brief supplemental intervention or, for more complex needs, can be addressed in an Intensive format.

Your Adjunct EMDR Therapy includes:

  • One 60- to 90-minute assessment meeting to discuss your specific needs, identify target goals and begin preparation for relief from underlying symptoms.

  • A customized treatment program with targeted treatment goals, conducted on either an Intensive basis or limited number of sessions. Sessions will be done virtually, typically for 1.5 to 3 hours each appointment.

  • One post-treatment interview to assess and support your adaption to positive changes from treatment and facilitate your transition of learning into your primary therapy.

Ongoing EMDR Therapy

You can try something new.

Sometimes the more traditional format of regular, ongoing therapy feels more comfortable. I offer ongoing EMDR therapy in an updated format of longer sessions in order to give you the powerful benefits of EMDR at a slower pace. Ongoing EMDR therapy might be right for you if:

  • You want to change on a deeper level and you’re interested in a fresh approach that is different from talk therapy

  • You have the time and other resources for ongoing therapy

  • You are comfortable with a slower pace of change, and you can tolerate the emotions in between sessions each week while you live your life

Your Ongoing EMDR Therapy includes:

  • One 60- to 90-minute assessment meeting to discuss your specific needs, identify target goals and begin preparation for relief from underlying symptoms.

  • A customized treatment program conducted over time. Sessions will be done virtually, typically for 1.5 to 2 hours each appointment.
